What is the K-96 Corridor Development Association

The K-96 Corridor Development Association, Inc.  is a non-profit, membership-based organization promoting economic development and assisting in orderly and efficient development of the region along Highway K-96 from Maize, Kansas to South Hutchinson, Kansas.  We are your source of information and connection to the Corridor region and communities.  We are dedicated to the preservation and promotion of our unique urban/rural communities and way of life.

History – In 2004 leaders from Sedgwick County and Reno County, Kansas came together to address development opportunities along Kansas Highway 96, a vital corridor connecting them.  A study coalition was created that included the two counties plus the communities of South Hutchinson, Haven, Mount Hope and Maize.  With funding from these founders, the coalition developed a plan for engaging partners interested in economic development.

In 2005 the plan was completed and approved by the members. It provided for the establishment of a membership organization to include the coalition members, additional corridor communities, government partners and the private sector.  From that the K-96 Corridor Development Association, Inc. was created.

In 2011 the Corridor Association welcomed the community of Colwich as a Corridor Community.  Located just south of the K96 Corridor, between the communities of Maize and Mount Hope, Colwich is a perfect fit and an important member of the Association.

Mission – The mission of the K96 Corridor Development Association, Inc. is to assist Corridor Communities with orderly and efficient development and to market the corridor as the premier location for your business, your home and your family.

Members & Leaders - The Association has grown to nearly 50 members.  The vital mix of city and county leaders, businesses, property owners, developers, and government agencies provides diversity in viewpoint, priorities and skills.  The common bond for the group continues to be the support of development along the Corridor.

The Association operates under the leadership of its Board of Directors.  The Board is made up of representatives from the 5 Corridor Communities (Maize, Colwich, Mount Hope, Haven, South Hutchinson) and Reno County plus private sector members chosen from among our Platinum members.
